St Thomas Primary School is a happy school that welcomes all constructive feedback from parents/carers, as we work extremely hard to have positive relationships with our school community for the benefit of all our children. The school has an open door policy and senior leaders are always available to address any concerns that parents/carers may have regarding the education and welfare of their children. Indeed the Headteacher makes herself readily available to all and tries extremely hard to address the issues that any parent considers there may be in school. Clerical staff are always polite and courteous, however we make it clear that as a school we have a zero tolerance of verbal and physical abuse and in any instances of this the perpetrator will be referred immediately to the Headteacher and/or asked to leave the building. Mobility is high in the school due to the profile of many of the families we serve and the vulnerability of those families, who often do not stay long in the area for a variety of reasons. All senior leaders, including the Headteacher, Mrs Jill Gray, have a number of years experience in the school itself and have worked tirelessly to raise standards. All teaching staff are extremely enthusiastic and also work extremely hard, providing an innovative and creative curriculum, tailored to the individual needs of our children. The school is well regarded within the local authority and has built up a good reputation, particularly for dealing with the most vulnerable children.All prospective parents/carers are commended to view the school website, which includes a copy of the school brochure and the latest Ofsted report; and we welcome visits to the school where you will be given a warm welcome.
My son had three teachers within eight months which wasn't the best start to his new school.They're stuck in the 1980s and don't even offer a text service.There seems to be high turn over of students.I took my son out of that school. I might as well have been banging my head on a brick wall. The teachers and the clueless receptionist are quick to pass the buck when any concerns are raised.I'm still wondering how they managed a 'good' OFSTED report.I have since heard there is a new head teacher but as she is the daughter of the last one, it's anyone's guess if she is doing a better a job.
